Copilot leaves Teams chat list. Access moves to sidebar

Microsoft will remove the Copilot entry point from the Teams chat list by late October 2026. Desktop and web users will be directed to access the AI assistant strictly through the main app bar on the left sidebar. This change aims to declutter the interface and provide a single, consistent user experience. No user data, past prompts, or chat histories will be lost during the transition. A visual coachmark will guide users toward the new navigation path prior to the complete retirement of the chat list entry point.

Microsoft Fabric exposes item lineage via API to power automated governance and AI agents

The Microsoft Fabric team has introduced two REST API operations in Public Preview that expose the platform's lineage graph programmatically. By unlocking access to upstream dependencies and downstream impact across workspaces, enterprise platform teams can now move beyond manual visual inspections in the portal. This update enables data leaders to embed dependency analysis directly into automated CI/CD pipelines, internal data catalogs, and AI agent workflows.

Copilot integration deepens within Outlook Classic app

Microsoft is making Copilot a central part of Outlook Classic. The AI button will move directly to the app ribbon for easier access, alongside a new feature that lets users explain selected text. While these changes trigger concerns among users who fear the app is being downgraded, Microsoft continues to roll out AI updates. The deployment for commercial customers starts later this month.
