Copilot leaves Teams chat list. Access moves to sidebar

Microsoft will remove the Copilot entry point from the Teams chat list by late October 2026. Desktop and web users will be directed to access the AI assistant strictly through the main app bar on the left sidebar. This change aims to declutter the interface and provide a single, consistent user experience. No user data, past prompts, or chat histories will be lost during the transition. A visual coachmark will guide users toward the new navigation path prior to the complete retirement of the chat list entry point.
